FOLLOW THESE 6 TIPS TO PRODUCE A QUALITY PAGE OR POST

HOW DO YOU MAKE MONEY WITH BLOGGING?  FOLLOWING

THESE SIX TIPS WILL HELP YOU PRODUCE A MUCH CLEANER

AND MORE ATTRACTIVE PAGE OR POST.

1)        S i z e  and Color  Matter!

Remember you are trying to  keep your reader’s

attention so make it “easy” to read. Nothing is

worse than “type” that’s too small.

Don’t be afraid to use color.  Make your point quickly

and show a relevant picture somewhere in the top fold.

The idea is to capture the reader’s attention and Color

             keeps them focused and interested.

  2)    SEPARATE YOUR IDEAS WITH HEADING TABS

By showing a heading at the top of each new paragraph you

are quickly locking in your reader’s attention in addition to

giving them a “preview”  as to what to expect next.  This tip is

effective when your reader is skimming for certain information

and doesn’t have time to read everything.

Don’t make your paragraphs too long.  Remember,

small “chunks” of information are much easier to

       digest and retain.

 3)      Use White Background With Black Letters

Studies have shown this combination is the easiest for people to

read and comprehend.  Other combinations result in a sharp

drop off in the reader’s attention.  Using many different colors

just to be different  –  usually results in the reader losing interest

and you losing a potential customer/sale.

(4)      USE CONVERSATIONAL “SPEAK”

Present yourself as a person who is easily reachable, friendly, and

knowledgeable;  someone the reader can “identify” with and turn to

when they need help.

Being able to breakdown complex ideas into easily understood and

digestible ones is a tremendous asset.  Most readers respond to it

positively and you’ll be rewarded by an increased number of sales/

signups. Try not to get too technical.  Nothing loses sales faster

than BOREDOM!

 (5)             USE CAPTIVATING HEADLINES

Newspapers have always understood and used this concept.

You want to “grab” the readers attention, compelling them

to continue reading.

Always keep in mind the longer your customer stays on your

website, the better chance you have of signing  them up.

(6)    USE IMAGES TO KEEP YOUR CUSTOMER’S FOCUS

Some People learn  visually , others  learn verbally.  Combining the

two usually works well.  Most people enjoy a picture or a graph

because it holds their attention and clarifies the point you are

trying to make. A good graph can do wonders.  Don’t be afraid to

use  them.

To sum up, if you keep these 6 tips in mind when you’re

creating or adding content to your website, you’ll notice

a marked improvement in your signups/sales.

All the best,

John

    • Shubhangi, thanks so much for your kind comments. The credit, of course, belongs to Wealthy Affiliate.

I remember when I first started building my website I wondered how in the world bloggers added
photos to their sites. One of the first lessons in the WA curriculum addressed this very important topic
and thru videos, classroom instructions, and the help of the many thousands of my fellow students, I
quickly learned how to do it. I was amazed at how easy they made it because I was “tech” challenged.

But like most things in life, if you set your mind to it and get the proper instruction, you can learn
      anything.

Thanks again, Shubhangi and all the best to you.

      Regards,

      John

  1. Hi John.
I am just about ready to start my own blog but I am a little nervous about writing. The tips you give in this post make a lot of sense and are really helpful, in particular keeping the paragraphs shorter. I have a tendency when writing to make my paragraphs way too big.
Can you suggest a good resource for images? I understand we need to be careful when it comes to copyright.
    Best,
    Philip

    • Philip, I wish you all the best on your new blog. I’ll be more than
happy to help you any way I can.
Yes, short paragraphs are very important. Visitors have a tendency
to go for the quick one or two liners.
Regarding the images, you are correct in that we must be very careful
not to infringe upon copyright laws.
I am a big fan of “freeimages” and I think you’ll be very happy with
      what they have to offer.

      All the best,
      John

  2. Hi John,

The other thing that turns me off in addition to the typeface being too small is the lines being too close together. When I come across pages like that I almost physically recoil..!

Social media has taught as all to look for instant gratification, which is why your points about short sentences and a ‘well-signposted’ article are so important.

It’s brutal out there, and if your site visitors cannot very quickly find what they came for they will be off like a shot.

    Cheers,

    Martin.

    • Martin, thanks for the comments. Of course you are entirely correct in that
we only have one opportunity to “get to the point!”

Wealthy Affiliate covers all these fine points and more. I have never seen
such a comprehensive on-line education as WA offers. And to think it’s free.
